Alzheimer’s is heartbreaking.

The white pine dropped a

bumper crop of cones this year

white with fragrant sap

The dry corn rustles

in a breeze too warm for fall

while cicadas sing

Overnight it seems

the front yard flame maple tree

Shows first blush of red

Soft misty sunlight

Whispers through the morning fog

Night becomes new day.

Touch feet to the floor Feel the first chill of winter, And hear howling wind.

The dog and I

nap on the sunporch

while the sound of cicadas

rise and fall.
