to make their fall debut but

changes face, reflecting lights—

Felix is jealous
that the dog gets to go out,
and he’s left behind.

Evening sun on hills
still green, but autumn color
can’t be far behind.

Sparkle with yesterday’s rain.
Autumn shows her face.

Rolling thunder growls,
and windows splatter with rain.

Belle the shy one waits
for feet to cuddle up to.
Feet can’t pick her up.
